Reformation Weekend

I mentioned Reformation. What is that? It was when Martin Luther posted the 95 Thesis on the door at Wittenburg, that started the Reformation movement. There are things that I totally disagree with today's Catholics.

What is a purgatory? Why do they pray to the saints? Why do they pray to Mary? Or have a rosary? Those things I disagree with the Catholics. I don't celebrate Halloween, I celebrate Reformation.

I am getting a Book of Concord soon. It is the basis of my Lutheran faith. If you have met me, and I know some of my friends have, they can tell that I am very conservative in my beliefs and very confessional. I have a co-worker who told me that he can tell that I am a Christian by the way I act. I asked him, how so? He can tell that I am reserve. I don't tell like Steve who is a Presbyterian, I show my Christianity in my workplace. I told Steve that I have been a Christian all of my life. He has been a Christian for four years and have not been baptized. I was shocked to learn that he is not baptized.

As Christ commanded us to "Baptize all nations." Or what is that verse? "Believe in Me and you shall be baptized." I think that is how it goes. BTW, I was baptize as an infant, about four weeks old. I believe in infant baptism very strongly. Christ has mention to let the little children to come to Him. Even babies are included.

As for the rest of the weekend, I had a very relaxing weekend. I read, play on the computer, shop, watch the first parade in my hometown in years.

This week, hmmmm, besides work, I have to bake brownies for the Chili cookoff.

Genealogy Part I

I love doing genealogy. It relaxes me. Right now, I have a new program that will help me trace a family.

Here is one thing that I learn from British history: Not all British are pure Brits. They are Italians (Rome), French, Norse (Vikings) and Saxon (Germany). Right now, I am doing my Brits family history and I am going as far back to 900s or maybe before.

For American history, I am descended from John and Elizabeth Tilley Howland, of the Mayflower (I refuse to call them Pilgrims). I am descended from soldiers of American Revolution, War of 1812, Civil War. I am proud of those histories.

I also learn that the surnames are those who live in that area. Like, Savoy, Arles, and others.

Weekend

I was in beautiful southern Ohio for the weekend. I had gotten home from work early Friday morning (I work until 5 a.m.), pack, then took a short nap (about three hours).

Since dad was driving, I managed to get some sleep on the way down. Not much, though, an hour, as we have to eat. Also, we have Emilee on the trip. She had a blast. That dog has so much fun down there. We arrived in the afternoon. We watched some television, as Tammy was not home at the time, and we went shopping at Wal-Mart. We came home and had eaten chili that my BIL had made. I love the scenery there, but it was raining.

Saturday, mom and I helped Tammy to clean out the cat house. I don't know how many cats and kittens are there. This place do not kill cats, unless they are really sick. I do have a few favorites. One is Wilma, who is gray, orange, and white. She is spayed. But, I have a cat. Oh well. Also, on Saturday, I watched football and managed to get some sleep.

Tammy has five birds, five cats (Sunshine, Allie (the oldest at sixteen), Stinky, and my two favorites: Bailey (Siamese) and Simon (Himalayn). Tammy also have one dog, Alexis, who is a Yorkie. Hannah, Tammy's other dog, was put down as she was failing in health. Hannah was about ten years old. She was a Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix. We will miss her. Tammy also has seven ducks. One drake, the others are mallards. The drake is the leader, LOL. When the mallards are flying (as they circle Tammy's home), the drake is quacking at them.

Sunday, went with Tammy to see a friend's dog and drop off some stuff at the cat house. Watch football and then went home. Emilee was very good in the car. We took the Olds and I have room in case I want to sleep.

So, overall, I had a good weekend.

Ok, I did a bit more quilling

of a turtle and a butterfly. I am trying think what to do with it, hmmm, maybe I should make a bookmark, as I am learning calligraphy. I need to find a good saying for those. Oh well.

I must have lost weight, as I tried on jeans, the size that I am usually in is a bit loose. Now, I am in a size smaller. Wow. My job is good for me, LOL. My sister is happy that I bought longer jeans, as I am 5'8" tall and need tall jeans.

Weekend

Well, my weekend, let me see....I did shopping yesterday. Went to a wedding, seeing the relatives that I rarely see and I talked to my cousins more. I had a good time. I think that Z (part of his name) probably would not recognize me as I was wearing a faux wrap-around skirt and a nice shirt. I like the colors of the skirt and it goes well with the season.

Tomorrow, just relax. Also, I got hooked on a puzzle game call Sudoku. http://www.websudoku.com/

Weekend

I had a good weekend.

Last Friday, all I did was stay home. My nephews arrived during the evening. Also, I chatted with my pastor friend (Pastor Limakatso Nare) online. He is moving back to New Orleans today. His church is adopted by Indiana District. I need to find out what churches Ohio District has adopted. Praise God for that! Lima, you are always in my prayers.

Saturday: Took my nephews to the corn maze. We had a blast! We did half a maze and then they climbed a big haystack. I took one kid at a time through a color maze. I might go back by myself. It is fun. Also, I watched football.

Sunday: Church (I teach Sunday School), and then I stay at home. My parents took my nephews to the playground and took them home. I was so tired. My nephews like to wear me out.

Also for crafting, almost done with my doily and did two quilling projects. I need to get some floss before I go to work. I am planning on doing Christmas ornaments and a Sue Hillis design.

Also, this week, I am doing my genealogy report on the Farmer side. My cousin who is getting married on Saturday is my half-cousin. I need to concentrate on the Farmer side, not the Bosworth side.

re-visit with updates on some topics

To continue with some of Kurt's topics (not all)

Baseball: I went to a baseball game at a young age. The team: Cincinnati Reds. That is why the Reds is my favorite team and they are the oldest baseball team. The only time I watch baseball now is when it is World Series and All Star Game.

Death: I used to be a nurse's aide in a nursing home. I was around death a lot. I am used to it. I remembered holding a lady's hand while she was dying and she died while I was holding her hand. She was yellow all over. I would never forget her. We all die. It is part of life. But, I know that I will live eternally through my Lord, Jesus Christ. I take death for granted now. I was afraid of it, but not any more.

Eggs: Sorry, Kurt, unlike you, I love eggs. I love omelets and hard boiled eggs, especially on my salad.

Fear: I see fear a lot. I have a lot of fear in me: heights (although I am getting over it), t-storms, spiders, bees (well, I have to be, I have allergies), wasps, sometimes rollercoasters. I don't ride them, I watch them, LOL. But, fear is good at times. For example, we should fear and love God (quote from the catechism). I don't conquer my fears, but there are times that I need to tackle them. It will make me a stronger person.

God: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth (from the Apostles' Creed, First Article). That is my core of my belief in Him. He is my provider, my Father. Trust in Him for all things.

Heavy Metal: hmmm, does the Futile sound familiar? LOL, they are a bunch of kids from my neighborhood formed a heavy metal band. What do I think of it? It sucked. All they do is screech and scream. I can't understand the words to their songs. I hear them practicing a lot.

Love: There are many kinds of love. There is the love you have with your spouse, there is the love you have with your pets, there is love you have with your friends, there is love you have with your family and there is love you have with God. In one of my favorite verse in the Bible, it said that out of faith, hope, and love. The greatest of these is love. Love is an emotion. It is a beautiful emotion, but I had seen people being abused by love. They are control freaks and they abuse love. They think that they are doing the right thing, but in reality, they are hurting the other person. Don't abuse love. In the Bible, they mentioned that God is love. How can one fight for God if they do not love Him? God is the God of Love. It is through is wondrous, beautiful love that He has sent his Son to die for us. It was that same love that has brought his Son back to life and to ascended to heaven. God loves us so much to do that. Don't abuse that special love from the Father.

Marriage: I had recently signed a petition for the Sanctity of Marriage for my state constitution. I want marriage to be between a man and a woman. How can the same sex be married to each other? They can't, as stated in the Bible. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah? Why did God destroy those cities. It is because those cities are evil. Marriage has their special love. The love between a man and a woman. When they consummate the marriage, it will be special. They will have children as proof of their love. Jesus is the Groom and the Church is his is Bride. What is special of that marriage? It means that Jesus is coming for his Bride. It means that Jesus is coming for the Church, a special love that is. Jesus loves her so much to die for her and then risen from the dead. That is the special love in the marriage. He is coming back to claim his own.

Noodles: what can I say, I love pasta! I am a big noodle eater. My favorite is fetuccini.

Oranges: my favorite citrus fruit. Not much to say here.

Romance: I see couples in love going on a date night. I went to Hawaii and see couples in love holding hands. Romance is very much alive today. My ideal of a first date is hiking. The nature is around us and you can talk all you want, LOL. The romance of nature surrounds me. Several of my dates were hiking. It is good and beautiful. You can hold hands, put your arms around the other person. It is so romantic than going to a movie. You can appreciate the beauty of nature, and each other, LOL. I am a romantic by heart. I see romance in things that others tend not to.Shyness: I am a very shy person. If I meet a man, my eyes will go down and I avoid eye contact. Why? I have no idea. Where did I get the idea? From a book by Lori Wick (Bamboos & Lace). It took me a long time to talk to a friend of mine, but I managed. I sometimes need to overcome it, to which I have.

Women: What can I say? I am one, although, when chatting with someone, I had been accused of being a woman hater and I told that person that I am a woman. Go figure.

Re-visit, part 3

I have read an alphabetical toughts and other bits of meaningless trivia by my friend. Well, I am going to use some of his topics (sorry, Kurt).

Airplanes: I remember my first flight out. I was supposed to leave Detroit to go to St. Louis at night, but that flight was cancelled. So, we stayed a night and went to fly out of Detroit. Well, as we were taxiing away, I was so nervous that I pop piece after piece of gum in my mouth, LOL. Then as we took off, we hit an air pocket. I was like what was that?

On one of the trips back from Hawaii, we had a three hour layover at San Francisco airport (SFO). Well, I went to say bye to my seatmate who is leaving on Alaskan Airlines to go to Portland. As I went through the metal detector, I was going to take off my ring. The people told me that I did not need to. Well, when I went back to my airline (Northwest), my ring did set off the detector and I told them about Alaskan Airlines. They told me that each airline is different. This is before 9/11, folks. It was Jan. 2001. At that time, each airline has their own security. Now, I know why our security in the airports failed at 9/11. It was bad.

My first flight after 9/11 was June of 2002. Detroit airport was a mess. I was not that happy at the time. My last flight to anywhere was Aug. of 2003. I flew out of Columbus (CMH). I was happy with their security. It had improved. That flight, we had a jewel of a ticket agent. My flight was delayed because the flight crew got in late and need their eight hours of rest. So, that ticket agent told us that he will get us to Hawaii that day. Well, we took American to Chicago O'Hare and then United the rest of the way. Well, I got my wish, I went in Chicago O'Hare airport. I like it. Main reason is that every time I go to WI, I usually go by O'Hare airport. It was my goal to go there. I was very happy and I did like the airport.

Part two of the re-visitation...

Pets

I have a dog and a cat. Emilee and Elisabeth

Emilee: I sometimes think that I have a funny dog. She acts tough, but she is not. If I am on the phone with my friends and they hear her, they would say hi to her. Emilee is a Pomeranian dog. She is three years old. She is my Mother's Day gift to my mom. Emilee does not like baths or being brushed. If she gets mad at one of us, she would stay away from that person. Like if she is mad at mom, she would go to me and hide behind me. She loves to play fetch. I bought her little tennis balls and I would throw it and she would chase it. When she comes back to me, she would keep that ball in her mouth, and I had to yank it out of her mouth. She likes to play tug-of-war. Emilee is a barker. It made her bigger than what she actually is. Her favorite chair is the green chair behind the computer. I would look behind me and there she is, sleeping and sometimes snoring. I had heard her burp. She is sensitive at times.

Elisabeth: I had Liz since she was a kitten. She was a stray. Her mom was a stray cat that stayed at my neighbors. She was the only long-haired cat in that litter. I fell in love with her. But, the vet bills kept piling on. Total for one year: $300. She had ear mites bad, a kitty cold, spayed and declawed. But, now she is a healthy cat. I love giving her catnip. Liz is eight years old.

Topics re-visited from my other blog, but more up to date.

In my other blog, www.livejournal.com/users/pualanijo, I will re-visit some of my topics, but put more up to date, even though I was 29 at the time and not 30 as I am today.

Family:

In my family, it consists of my parents and my two sisters and me. I am in the middle. Both of my sisters are married. One has two children.

Dad: My dad and I are alike. We are both good in math, we like trains, and we like to use the computer. Dad was born at a farm in Wisconsin. Yes, a farmhouse. He grew up farming. One of his earlier jobs is working for SOO Line. SOO Line was a train company up in Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan (but I could be wrong). That company changed its name to Wisconsin Central and now it is Canadian Central. Dad works for Whirlpool, Findlay, Ohio. That factory make dishwashers and it is the largest diswasher plant in the world. On Saturdays, dad and I would go to somewhere that have trains. I know a lot about trains due to dad.

Mom: Mom grew up in a large family. She has 3 half-brothers and one half sister. She also has 4 brothers and 3 sisters. One of her brothers is her twin. Mom and I like to go garage saling together. Trust me on this: it is fun. I get a lot finds (crafts for me). Plus, it let me get know Findlay a bit more and my navigation skills are sharper. Mom works at Great Scot in the bakery department.

Tammy: My older sister lives in Gallipolis, Ohio. I love that area, very beautiful. She has five cats and one dog. Tammy is about eight years older than I. We get along better now than in the past. She came and help us decorate this house (it badly needed it). Tammy is married to Dennis. I made a wedding sampler for her. Two years ago for Christmas, I made her a fox sampler. Trust me on this: Make someone a gift. It will be appreciated. When I went to her house, I saw the samplers that I made and this one picture of a fox that I got her (it was handmade, I got it at Craft Fair at Ghost Town). Deep down, it made me very happy to see that.

Trina: Trina is my younger sister by two to three years (I say this because when Trina was born, the next month, I turned three). Trina is married and have two children. I love my nephews. Trina was the one who gave me a beautiful silver bracelet with details of flowers on it. I like to wear it. She also gave me a real garnet ring in brass tone. That garnet is the only real stone that I have and I wear it a lot. It is plain and elegant, like me.

New Craft item for me is...

Quilling! I know, I know, I am very crafty, LOL. It is more like rolling paper up. Scrapbookers should use this on their scrapbook page (I am not a scrapbooker, LOL). It brings a bit of 3D to the pages. To see what quilling look like. go to www.quilling.com.
